Hello there! My name is Alison and I lead this fabulous team. I'm a mid-twenty something vegetarian with a strikingly quiet, golf addicted husband and a mini-schnauzer. I'm obsessed with Mad Men, I trail ride occasionally and work close to 24 hours a day. Its impossible -but some how I am fashion obsessed yet still fashion challenged. I'm one of 5, with a massive opinionated family and I avoid wearing my glasses in public. No offense to glasses wearers, I just hate mine. I think they are the same pair I picked out sophomore year in high school. You can stop reading now if you'd like, but if you're intrigued and would like to know more about how I ended up here; read on.
I honestly had absolutely no clue that I was going to do this with my life. As a kid I wanted to teach, in college, I wanted to be a sign language interpreter. Finally as an adult I just wanted to be happy. [For the record I'm still working on that, but I'm a lot closer] In 2007 I tripped and fell into the beauty industry. College didn't work out for me and I followed my little sister into hair school. [That's a story for another day!] I loved it. I mean I loved the industry I just didn't enjoy all the other stuff. I had no idea what I was going to do, I didn't really want to be behind a chair but I loved this industry.
Alison & Caitlin age 13 and 11
After bouncing around a salon or two I was lost, broke and hating my industry. A girlfriend was getting married and asked me to help with her hair. That is when it happened. There was a buzz, it was electric. The excitement, the pressure. Making someone feel stunning on one of the biggest days of their life. It was enthralling. I found it.
I found my thing.
After a little prodding from my now husband Jd, I built a little website. I forced my little sister to come work with me and I started meeting the sweetest brides. I've stumbled and pushed my way through building this business. It isn't easy, I don't think it gets easier but I don't regret a minute of it. I knew nothing about taxes, advertising, budget. Nothing. I am still learning as we grow.
After doing this for a bit I realized that I can't keep this to myself. It is selfish of me to keep this to myself. We have an overabundance of fabulous brides needing talented, organized and fun artists. There is so much talent in this area. I had to share. There is a way for talented area artists to earn a living doing something they too are passionate about. We started to grow. I have hand selected each and everyone of our team members. I keep up on them -I get on their back, I help educate them and they are talented. They even surprise me sometimes.
I never thought I would be here. I never thought I would be doing something I feel so passionate about and making such a difference in so many peoples lives. I realized I really loved this. This is my calling.
I just got married. It was a real eye opening experience. I finally have a clear understanding of how difficult it is to plan a wedding. I argued with my mom about center pieces, I changed my mind 300 times and I was a complete nut job scatter brain. All I wanted was for my vendors to show up, work there magic and allow me to enjoy and absorb the intensity of my day. Since then I've worked on making sure my clients are able to sit back and take in all in while we make magic.
I want happy clients. I want happy artists. & I want to make people understand how beautiful they really are.
Thanks for stopping by and reading. I'd love to get to know more about you. In fact I'd love to set you up on a fun little beauty date with one of my girls. Head on over to our contact page if you'd like to chat sometime. - Xo..
